Biography
Bartholds a Master of Electromechanical Engineering Technology: Electromechanics (Renewable Energy) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Before returning to academia, Bart built a career in the private sector, serving as a Maintenance Supervisor at a large multinational company and a Project Manager at a renewable energy company. This practical background gave him firsthand experience with the complexities of integrating multi-energy systems. He now leverages his operational expertise to bridge the gap between theoretical and applied research.
Bart’s research focusses on developing standardised performance testing procedures for Energy Management Systems (EMS). His research aims to create a universal framework that allows for fair, reproducible benchmarking of control algorithms across different applications. Moreover, he is actively participating in multiple projects in the Evergi group.
