Manuel Van Rensbergen

Manuel Van Rensbergen obtained his Master of Science in Electromechanical Engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 2025, with a major in Sustainable Transport and Automotive Engineering. His thesis, “An AI-supported Digital Twin of a Vehicle Powertrain Platform”, focused on leveraging machine learning and simulation to enable real-time condition monitoring in electric drivetrains. During his studies, he gained experience in developing digital twins, machine learning models, and interactive simulation tools for transport systems.

In August 2025, Manuel joined the EPOWERS research group at MOBI as a researcher for six months. His work includes the development of a State-of-Health predictor for electric vehicle drivetrains, the co-authoring of a conference paper based on his thesis research, and contributions to the GIANTS project, where he supports the validation of frugal electric driveline development against stakeholder needs.
