We are proud to announce that the REFORMERS project, coordinated by our EVERGi Research Group, has been awarded the prestigious World Hydrogen 2025 Award in the “Clean Hydrogen Project” category. The award was presented on 20 May during the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam.
REFORMERS was recognised for its pragmatic and systems-level approach to decarbonising existing refinery infrastructure. The jury highlighted its strong potential to contribute meaningfully to the scaling-up of clean hydrogen across Europe.

What is REFORMERS?
REFORMERS (Renewable Energy-based Flexible Operation of Refineries for Making Ethanol and Renewable Syngas) is a Horizon Europe project focused on the transformation of traditional fossil-based refineries into hybrid, circular, low-carbon production sites. The project explores how renewable electricity, green hydrogen, and carbon reuse technologies can be integrated to enable the sustainable production of fuels and chemicals.
By combining industrial know-how with cutting-edge energy technologies, REFORMERS provides a scalable model for future-ready refineries that can play a central role in Europe’s energy transition.
A Collaborative Achievement
This recognition would not have been possible without the dedication and expertise of our project partners, including:
New Energy Coalition
Hydevco bv
Haffner Energy (supporting the HYNOCA concept)
STOFF2
InVesta
And many more from across Europe
We extend our heartfelt thanks to each partner for their commitment to the REFORMERS vision. This award is a shared success.
Finally, we would like to thank World Hydrogen Leaders for this hono
