Software Engineer Object-Oriented Programming for Smart Grids in Brussels

What is it about?

The MOBI Research Center (MOBI) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), and specifically its team EVERGi, is leading state-of-art research in the area of Smart Multi-Energy Grids and Electromobility.  With the aim of aiding the transition to a new sustainable energy and mobility system, the group carries out experiments at the Green Energy Park, a  top-notch living laboratory near Brussels. The EVERGi team is involved in several R&D projects  that create seamless collaboration between energy stakeholders and technology solutions developers. These projects develop marketplaces using secure data flows between data providers and solution providers, resulting in new data-driven business models, enhanced energy management and consumer participation in energy markets. 

What will you do?

EVERGi wants to strengthen its team by hiring a specialist in object-oriented programming who will work on several National and European projects focused on the implementation of  Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning in Smart Grids. You will be responsible for developing advanced software tools that allow the design of innovative Smart Microgrids and that improve the planning, monitoring, operation and maintenance of the grid and energy assets, all made available at an open innovation marketplace. You will work with an interdisciplinary team of Engineers in a co-design process for energy communities and smart microgids.

What do we expect?

You are a motivated expert in object-oriented programming who can work independently on projects in an international environment and with the industry. You hold a bachelor or a professional master degree in Informatics and have knowledge of Python, GIT, and Linux. In addition you are a good communicator that can write fluently in English. Proficiency in Dutch is a plus. You are a team player and willing to attend project meetings as well as conferences abroad.
