We are pleased to inform you of the upcoming launch of the MSCA COFUND “EUTOPIA SCIENCE AND INNOVATION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM”(EUTOPIA-SIF), jointly supported by the European Union and the partner institutions of EUTOPIA University Alliance (the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the CY Cergy Paris Université, the University of Gothenburg, the University of Ljubljana, the University Pompeu Fabra and the University of Warwick). The EUTOPIA-SIF program is coordinated by CY Cergy Paris Université.
EUTOPIA-SIF will co-finance of 76 post-doctoral fellowships over 4 years, through the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program for a total budget of 10,2M€ euros, of which 5,6M€ are financed by the European Union and 4,6M€ by the partner universities. VUB will recruit 13 fellows over 4 years, around 3 per call for applications.
A first call for applications was launched in October for the recruitment of the first cohort of 20 post-doctoral fellows by the EUTOPIA universities, of which 3 fellows will be hosted at the VUB. The call deadline is 11 January, 13:00 CET. Positions will start in September 2021.
You are welcome to exchange with prospective applicants on their research project, provide them with information on the research environment offered by your research group and, possibly, support them in identifying additional hosting options within Eutopia.
EUTOPIA-SIF post-doctoral fellows will be recruited by the EUTOPIA universities (host university) on the basis of an individual research project and the quality of their academic profile. They will become full members of the host research center for the duration of the fellowship and receive academic and professional guidance from an academic mentor, senior member of the research center.
Extensive research mobility at another EUTOPIA university (co-host university) being part of the fellowship, the EUTOPIA-SIF program is an excellent occasion for the fellow, the host research center and the academic supervisor to foster academic cooperation and joint research activity with EUTOPIA partners.
Please note that, according to the MSCA mobility rule, EUTOPIA-SIF fellows wishing to apply to VUB as host university must not have resided or carried out their main activity – work, studies, etc. - in Belgium for more than 12 months in the 3 year prior to the date of appointment. This rule does not apply if VUB is the co-host university.
You can find the details on the program and relevant application material on the EUTOPIA website and on the application platform www.eutopia.smapply.io . Please note that all applications must be submitted online, in English, by 11 January 13:00 CET.
