The Mobility, Logistics and Automotive Technology Research Centre (MOBI) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel has a strong tradition in state-of-the-art research on e-mobility and socio-economic analysis in sustainable mobility and logistics.
A multidisciplinary team of more than 150 specialists addresses the challenges that the transport value chain faces, by integrating the engineering, economy, policy, sociology & environmental sciences.

Project
You start on a research project situated in the domain of synchromodal transport and the physical internet. This is a novel approach for freight traffic flows. The project is a collaboration of different Flemish universities and companies. Your research will focus in specific on the simulation of hinterland transport via an agent-based transport model. You will investigate the impact of implementing synchromodal transport for hinterland transport on logistic service providers, stakeholders and society as a whole.
Your profile
You are a motivated researcher with strong interest in new developments in the domain of intermodal freight transport and have a good academic track record, preferably in Business Engineering, Economics, Traffic Engineering, Geography, Engineering or Computer Science. You have a good knowledge of transport modelling and experience with simulation and programming languages (e.g. Java or Python). You are a team player. You are a good communicator and write fluently in English. You are willing to attend project meetings and travel abroad forHOr meetings and conferences.
