Prof. Dr. Valéry Ann Jacobs
Biography
Valéry Ann JACOBS holds a bachelor in Physics from Hasselt University and a master in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Leuven. In 2015, she obtained the degrees of PhD in Engineering Technology at KU Leuven and PhD in Engineering Sciences at VUB on a thesis entitled: “Design considerations for LED based surgical luminaires.” Since then, she has been working as a Professor in lighting at VUB, teaching several courses on indoor lighting, daylighting in buildings, lighting for transport and vehicle electronics. Her research focuses on the photometry of LED arrays, whether applied to lightingfor transport or medical lighting. Moreover, in collaboration with the architectural department, she works on control strategies for solar shading devices in buildings. Finally, together with the B-PHOT research group, she works on the design, fabrication, validation and metrology of optical components for light sources.
