Biography
Prof. Dr. Ir. Sajib Chakraborty is a Research Professor and the Digital Twin and Reliability (DTR) Team Lead at the Efficient Power Electronics, Powertrain, and Energy Solutions (EPOWERS) Research Group within the MOBI Research Center at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. He received his Ph.D. (with highest honors) in Engineering Sciences from VUB in 2022 and obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Hons.) degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Independent University, Bangladesh, in 2013 and 2016, respectively. Prof. Chakraborty leads research activities within the Power Electronics Reliability Lab (PERL). He serves as technical co-coordinator for five ongoing EU projects— InnoBMS, HARPOONERS, DigiBATT, NEXTBMS, and EFFEREST. He also leads work packages and VUB-specific tasks in projects such as HiPower5.0, FlexMCS, SiC4Grid, ZEFES, and eBRT2030. In addition, he contributes to nationally funded initiatives, including DT4V, SmartSoS, and OptiBATT.
His research focuses on cloud-connected and cyber-secure digital twin technologies for power electronics and powertrain systems in automotive, waterborne, and grid applications, including Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), design-for-reliability, lifetime monitoring and predictive health management, AI-driven modeling, and advanced battery management system hardware (BMS).
Prof. Chakraborty serves as an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification (TTE), a guest editor for Energies, and a grant reviewer for several international funding agencies.
