Scope of the survey
This survey is set up in the framework of the EU-funded SHOW project, which supports the large-scale deployment of shared and electrified CCAM services across multiple urban areas in Europe. CCAM - Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility - refers to autonomous/connected vehicles or self-driving cars (vehicles that can guide themselves without human intervention).
Based on the assumption that in the near future legal and technological developments will allow for the safe deployment of Connected, Cooperative and Automated Vehicles (CCAVs) on mixed-use public roads, the survey aims to understand - from a multi-stakeholder perspective - which regulatory aspects need to be considered at local level to:
- Accelerate the deployment of shared commercial CCAM services with a high level of automation including shuttles, minibuses, buses and robotaxis;
- Ensure seamless integration of CCAM services in a multimodal and multi-operator transport system, complementing public transport;
- Contribute to safer, more sustainable, more inclusive and more efficient mobility across the wider urban area.
As publicly procured CCAM services will be subject to public procurement rules under EU law they are not considered within the scope of the survey. The survey results will be complemented by interviews and focus group meetings and feed into a SHOW public report on 'Recommendations for Adapting Regulatory and Operational Strategies for CCAM Deployment at Local and Regional Level' (June 2022) and inform SHOW policy recommendations (October 2023).
Timeline and structure
The survey will be open until 31 October 2021 and consists of two parts, including a general information section and a set of statements grouped in potential areas of intervention. Filling out the survey will take approximately 20 minutes.

Any Background, Results, Confidential Information and/or any and all data and/or information that is provided, disclosed or otherwise made availabe ('Shared Information') in the framework of this urvey, shall not include personal data. Accordingly, all necessary steps will be taken to ensure that all Personal Data is removed from the Shared Information, made illegible, or otherwise made inaccessible prior to providing the Shared Information to other Parties.
