Meer ruimte voor stappers en trappers in Oetingen in 2050

Groen, rustig, maar levendig: zo zien de Oetingenaren het dorp graag in 2050. De stappers en trappers krijgen meer ruimte, maar ook de (elektrische) wagen blijft belangrijk. Dat is de uitkomst van het VUB-onderzoeksproject Oetingen2050. Nu is het aan de beleidsmakers om de visie uit te laten komen.

The paper by Cathy Macharis, Sara Tori, Alice de Séjournet, Imre Keserü and Lieselot Vanhaverbeke entitled 'Can the COVID-19 crisis be a catalyst for transition to sustainable urban mobility?' was awarded with the publication prize 2021 from MoRo (Stichting Mobiliteit en Ruimtelijke Ordening).

Survey SHOW: Regulatory aspects of shared CCAM services at local level

Scope of the survey This survey is set up in the framework of the EU-funded SHOW project, which supports the large-scale deployment of shared and electrified CCAM services across multiple urban areas in Europe. CCAM - Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility - refers to autonomous/connected vehicles or self-driving cars (vehicles that can guide themselves without human intervention).

Successful Mechelen Ecozone pilot project; bpost delivers letters and parcels emission-free

A study by MOBI calculated that Bpost's CO2 emissions in Mechelen have been reduced by 97%. A magnificent result thanks to the project 'Ecozone' that replaced all diesel vehicles in Mechelen by electric delivery vans, cars and electric bicycles with trailer.

At the end of 2019, the European Commission presented “The European Green Deal”, with the aim of transforming the European Union into a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy. The most important objectives thereby are the reduction to zero net greenhouse gases emissions by 2050 and to ensure economic growth decoupled from resource use.

New project: Smarthubs

On 1 May 2021, the Smart Mobility Hubs as Game Changers in Transport (SmartHubs) project has kicked off funded by JPI Urban Europe and Innoviris. 30 partners from Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Austria and Turkey will investigate mobility hubs, dedicated on-street locations where citizens can choose from different shared and sustainable mobility options.

Best Young Biomass Researcher Award goes to MOBI-researcher Anne van den Oever

Anne van den Oever recently received the award “Best Young Biomass Researcher” during the hybrid World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED) 2021 in Wels, Austria. She presented her review on the energy efficiency of Fischer-Tropsch fuels during the Young energy Researchers Conference and the European Pellet conference.

With this survey we want to collect and understand your perception and acceptance of possible self-driving vehicles in the future. This research is a collaboration between the MOBI research group of VUB and Autodelen.net, the network for car sharing and shared mobility. The results of this study will be included by both partners in a broader research for the acceptance of self-driving cars.

OPENDEI, an EU initiative, has released an 'Energy Booklet'. This booklet presents participating H2020 projects such as INTERCONNECT and BD4OPEM. Our EVERGI team is a partner in both of these projects. In the attached booklet you can find more info on the Interconnect Belgian Pilot Site (GEP at Zellik is a part of it) and the BD4OPEM Belgian Pilot Site, UZ Brussel Hospital.

Future scenarios for a rural Flemish village

In the project Oetingen2050, the MOBI urban mobility team is developing future scenarios for Oetingen, a rural village in the Flemish Pajottenland. The project aims at developing a mobility vision for the village for the year 2050, as well as alternative scenarios based on disruptions. Visions and scenarios can help governments make the right policy decisions by defining a desired future state.

School street LOOPER project

Co-design and impact assessment of a car-free school street zone in Anderlecht

The MOBI urban mobility team is developing and testing a school street zone in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht. A school street is a temporary closure of a street next to a school entrance to minimize traffic during the pick-up and drop-off of students.
