VUB app allows cyclists to measure time wasted waiting for green lights

A VUB-led campaign has been launched in Ghent to find out how much time cyclists waste standing in front of red lights. Until 15 November, cyclists in Gent can use the Ist Al Gruun app to find out how much time they spend waiting for the light to turn green. Interested? The app is available for iOS and Android.

VUB scientists lead EU-Horizon 2020 energy grid project

Multimodal operator Shipit started at the beginning of this year the Brussels Construction Consolidation Center (BCCC), a transshipment center along Havenlaan and Vergote dock in the harbor of Brussels. The project is running in collaboration with the Scientific and Technical Center for the Construction Company (WTCB), the VUB, Urbantz and the Brussels Construction Confederation.

New evaluation method 'MOBRU' to improve mobility in Brussels

For decades mobility has been a major problem in Brussels. Therefore, a new evaluation method called ‘MOBRU’ was developed. First results show that mobility in Brussels can be improved by short-term profits. Geert te Boveldt from MOBI, a VUB research group, developed MOBRU in collaboration with Mathieu Strale and Frédéric Dobruszkes from ULB-IGEAT. It is based on a two-step approach.

First implementation of MAMCA within the energy sector

MOBI has an important role in two European funded research projects about ‘Local Energy Communities’ that started off this year. The first project is called RENAISSANCE or ‘Renewable integration and sustainability in energy communities’, an H2020 project with 4 pilot sites throughout Europe.
